Smart Safety Strategies for the Real World.

Our goal is to shift how young adults think about their own safety. We provide realistic, proven strategies to help them spot red flags, trust their gut, and avoid dangerous situations before they escalate.

We will soon be releasing our 10th Edition of our Student Crime Awareness Initiative in November 2026.

The 1st Edition, produced in 1996, received numerous positive reviews, including:

“The Student Crime Awareness Video contains valuable information for young adults to help make them more aware of their surroundings both on and off campus, in the workplace and less likely to become a victim of a crime.”

Program Host: Dan Whitney a.k.a. Larry the Cable Guy

“As a young comedian, Dan did a masterful job as the program host. He locked in the young adults from start to finish, delivering this vital message without making it feel like a lecture. It was easy to see that Dan was destined to be a great success.”

What's inside:

The 3 "A’s" of Personal Safety

We use a straightforward framework to help teens and young adults take control of their own safety:

Attitude:

They are young adults now, which means they are responsible for their own personal safety. We don’t lecture, preach, or micromanage—we just deliver practical advice to help them avoid becoming a target.

Awareness:

It’s about paying attention. Young adults need to read the room and stay fully aware of their surroundings, especially within that high-risk, familiar one-mile radius around home or campus.

Avoidance:

Using situational awareness and basic common sense to spot red flags and completely steer clear of dangerous situations before they start.

Topics Covered Include:

Vehicle Safety
Public Transportation
If You Are Followed
On & Off Campus Housing
If You Are Attacked

Out & About
Shootings
Cyberspace
Drugs & Alcohol
Sex Offenses

We’d like to extend a very special “Thank You” to the City of Houston Mayor’s Office and Police Department for providing the “Shootings Segment.”
